Synergy Learning approved for APUC education LMS framework
Jonny McAlister
Head of Customer Experience
We’re proud to have once again been approved for the Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC) framework.
Approval for the APUC framework makes it simpler and more straightforward for customers in the education sector to buy an LMS from us.
What is the APUC framework?

APUC ( Advanced Procurement for
Universities and Colleges ) is the procurement centre of expertise and procurement
consortium for, and jointly owned by, all universities and colleges in Scotland, working in
partnership with its members to encourage innovation, best practice, collaboration and value
delivery.
The APUC framework covers all aspects of spending by education institutions, including their investments in learning technologies. As such, it makes education LMS procurement easier for universities, colleges and other institutions.
Synergy Learning on the APUC Framework
We’re among just a handful of suppliers approved to offer LMS to APUC’s client institutions under its buying framework for Innovative, Value-Adding Virtual Learning Environment Systems and Associated Services.
We are approved to supply Moodle virtual learning environment systems, including offering support, hosting and development.
Benefits of buying an LMS on APUC
Some of the advantages of buying an LMS via the APUC framework are:
Simplified procurement process
Using APUC framework agreements makes it easy to buy from approved suppliers for a quicker, easier procurement process.
Save time and money
The simplified procurement processes help to save time, resources and budget that would have been spent on a costly procurement process. Costs are also controlled by ceiling rates or maximum pricing defined and agreed upon for the duration of the framework agreement.
Access to vetted suppliers
Buying from APUC suppliers like Synergy Learning gives you peace of mind that the companies you’re working with have already been through stringent vetting procedures. This makes for simpler compliance.
Opportunities for collaborative purchasing
Two or more educational institutions can purchase through collaborative agreements to streamline procurement processes and remove duplicate spending.
Why choose Synergy Learning?
We’ve built a wealth of experience creating Moodle LMS platforms since 2005. We’ve developed hundreds of Moodle learning environments in that time, including flexible, accessible and engaging LMS for universities and education institutions.
When you use the APUC framework to hire Synergy Learning for education LMS procurement, we bring all of that know-how and expertise to your project.
Some of the education LMS projects we’ve worked on include:
Queen Mary University of London
We created a centralised LMS to deliver higher education staff training to 3,500 academic staff, 2,500 administrative staff and 2,500 research students at QMUL. The platform integrates with the university’s other learning tools and staff systems, providing streamlined management and delivery of staff training. It is also scalable and flexible, so that it is able to grow and develop with the institution.
RWTH International Academy
RWTH International Academy, the continuing education arm of the renowned RWTH Aachen University, worked with us to create a Moodle LMS platform that makes life easier for lecturers and students alike. It provides a single point of communication, information and questions, creating an interactive learning hub customised to the institution’s needs.
“Synergy Learning has experts who know the Moodle system, know what customers need, and can make these things happen. We appreciate creative and useful advice from our suppliers and guidance on how to implement all ideas in the best way. That’s what we get from Synergy Learning — and that’s why we switched to them in the first place.”
Janina Dähne, RWTH International Academy
Goethe-Institut
We helped the Goethe-Institut, the not-for-profit German cultural association that promotes German language learning abroad, increase its LMS visits from 14,000 to 12 million per year. We overhauled its Moodle LMS with extensive user experience and development work, new course formats and adaptive testing.
“We need a Moodle Partner that understands how we operate. Synergy Learning has always given us the feeling that anything is possible; that their development team will always find the best way to achieve what we need.”
Stefan Münchow, Goethe-Institut
Girls Go Circular
We helped the EU-funded Girls Go Circular programme to reach 38,000 schoolgirls aged 14 to 19 with STEM training. Our award-winning Moodle Workplace LMS has delivered accessible learning to students across southern and eastern Europe in support of the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan.
Scottish Water
We created a customised LMS for schools and supply chain partners. The platform delivers engaging educational content on water, the environment and industry best practices, with tailored user experiences for each audience. Synergy Learning provided technical support, design and security guidance, making the LMS a central tool for learning and communication.
“Synergy Learning were very professional and supportive throughout the design and development process. They work in the way I like to work, which is to be open, honest and relaxed. It felt like we were a team creating the learning hubs together. They brought to this project a lot of creativity and the technical expertise that we didn’t have in-house.”
