Got an interview with 1Team?
Congrats! The interview process is your time to shine. We know interviews can be a little daunting, which is why we’ve put together some pointers on what to expect (along with some tips on how to give it your best).
The interview process
How many stages are there?
The interview process will normally consist of 2-3 stages (however for some roles, additional stages may be required).
How are interviews conducted?
All interviews are held virtually via Google Meet – you’ll receive a link for this once you’ve confirmed your attendance.
Do I need to bring anything?
If you’re invited to interview, you’ll need to provide proof of your right to work in the UK or Ireland.
Interview stages
Here’s what you can expect from each stage of the interview process.
Stage 1 interview
Our first stage interviews generally last around 50 minutes – it’s where you’ll usually meet the hiring manager and someone from our People circle. In this conversation, we’ll focus on your skills, experience and what you can bring to the role. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions of us and see if you like what you hear. A short (10-minute) presentation element will be included at this stage for most customer-facing roles (Sales, Marketing, Project Management etc.). You’ll be given all you need to know to prepare your presentation before the interview.
Stage 2 interview
This stage is an opportunity for you to meet with the hiring manager and Head of Department. This interview normally lasts about 30-45 minutes and is mostly conversational – so no extra preparation is required by you. This is just so we can get to know you a little more and give you another opportunity to ask us any questions.
Final screening call
Almost there! The final stage is an informal screening call with our CEO. This call lasts around 15-30 minutes.
Additional stages
For certain roles, there may be additional stages to the process.
For example, for German-speaking roles – You’ll have a short (15-minute) screening call with a member of 1Team before your first interview. There will be a German-language conversation to check your business language fluency.
For certain technical roles (i.e. backend and UX developers), you may be asked to complete a technical task as a shortlisting exercise before the formal interview invite.

Frequently asked questions
Can I ask for reasonable adjustments?
We want to make sure everyone has a positive experience and an equal opportunity to fully contribute throughout the process. If you require a reasonable adjustment for the interview, just let us know when you confirm your attendance – we’ll do all we can to accommodate you.
Can I apply for more than one role?
Yes, you can apply for more than one role if you meet all of the criteria. You must submit a separate application for each role that you are interested in. If you’re shortlisted, you will be required to attend more than one interview process. It’s possible that you may be shortlisted for one role and not the other, or you could be shortlisted for both.
I’ve been rejected before, can I apply again?
Yes, but consider requesting feedback on why your previous application was unsuccessful before starting a new one. The feedback will help you in the process, or may indicate areas of experience or skills that still may not align with the role requirements.
What will happen if I’m running late?
Please keep us informed! The panel will wait 5 minutes for you to show up to the appointed video call – you’ll get the link for this via email. If you don’t show up to the interview or you don’t reach out in advance to reschedule, you’ll be classified as a no-show and be disqualified, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
I don’t have any experience with Google Meet, can a different platform be used?
No, we use Google Meet for all interviews as standard. This is to make everyone’s lives easier – you don’t have to create an account, and should be able to join the call without any extra administration or sign-ups. It’s a good idea to check that you can access the link in advance and let us know if you’re having any difficulties.
Can I reschedule my interview?
We will always do our best to accommodate a rescheduled time or date where availability allows. Please be aware that during particularly busy periods it may not be possible to do this so we’d recommend checking the dates in advance and letting us know if there are any issues.
What do you do to support inclusive interviewing?
At 1Team, we’re committed to inclusive hiring. We strive to ensure our hiring team is well-versed in all aspects of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. You can see a copy of our DEIB commitments here.
