Giving Back: Synergy Learning donates to Women’s Aid
Synergy Learning
Cheque for more than £2,500 presented to help Women’s Aid support women and children facing domestic violence.
Synergy Learning has made a donation to Women’s Aid to help fund its important work saving the lives of domestic violence survivors.
A cheque for £2,720 was presented at the start of December to help the charity support women facing abuse over the Christmas period and beyond.
Head of People, Performance & Culture, Tory Kerley, explained: “Every year our team nominates a selection of causes close to their heart. When our Business Development Manager, Gemma Weir, suggested Women’s Aid it was an obvious choice for us all to get behind.
“The shocking statistics and prevalence of violence against women in what should be the safety of home — and the consequences for them and their children — should be a rallying call to everyone. Synergy Learning hopes this donation will help support those in need of safety, particularly at Christmas.”
Niamh O Maolain, Chair of Women’s Aid Armagh Down, revealed how the donation would be used.
She said: “We’re so grateful for this donation from Synergy Learning, which will be used to support our women and children over one of the most difficult times of the year. We help hundreds of women a year find lasting peace away from domestic abuse, and operate a refuge that is constantly full – and has a waiting list. We are always proud to be able to offer a safe place for kids and their mums when it’s most needed, but our funding barely covers the essentials. The generosity of Synergy Learning will help bring some joy back to the mums and kids in our service, this Christmas and throughout the year.”
In addition to Women’s Aid, Synergy Learning is raising funds for Dementia NI and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Support for charities and causes close to our hearts is part of Synergy Learning’s Giving Back initiative. This has also included giving each team member 15 hours of paid volunteering to support a cause of their choosing, using the OnHand corporate volunteering app, and empowering young people from challenging backgrounds by donating to Head Held High.
