Everything you need to know about the release date for Totara 18.
The latest version of the Totara Talent Experience Platform — Talent 18 — is coming soon. It’s already available to Totara Alliance Platinum Partners like Synergy Learning as an alpha release, with a full release due later this year.
If you’re checking out the Totara 18 release date, you’re probably wondering whether upgrading to Totara 18 is the best option for your organisation. In this article, we’ll explore the release date and some of the new features so you can see whether the timeline and offering match your organisation’s requirements.
When will Totara 18 be released?
The Totara 18 release date is December 2023. This will be approximately 12 months after the release of the most recent major version, Totara 17, and follows Totara’s release cadence of a new major release every 12 months.
Will the Totara 18 release date move?
Totara does reserve the right to change the date of its releases. As with any software release, there are any number of things that could slightly impact the release date. There has already been a slight adjustment from a planned release date of November 2023, but we now expect it to be released in December 2023.
What do we know about the Totara 18 release?
There are several changes and improvements available in the release preview, with even more new features expected in the full release. The improvements cover the Totara Talent Experience Platform (TXP) as a whole, as well as bringing new features to the Totara Learn learning management system and Totara Perform performance management platform.
Let’s take a look at some of the features that we already know will be included in the upcoming release:
Schedule user deletion
You’ll be able to schedule the deletion of suspended user accounts to automate your compliance with data protection laws.
Pathway course format
An improved and streamlined format for courses with multiple activities. The Pathway format shows only a single activity or resource at a time, with an overview of the learner’s progress through the course displayed in a left-hand sidebar.
H5P course activity
Create and publish interactive videos, quizzes and games within Totara Learn using H5P activities.
Clone a program
Duplicate an entire program to use it as a template for new programs. Details, contents and notifications will all be copied.
Improved content UI
The new Totara version makes it easier to visualise a program’s content and the relationship between different course sets. The content tab has been improved and modernised.
